Imagine being able to have a relaxing and pleasant walk with your dog. No more barking and lunging. No struggling trying to get your dog to calm down.
We will work together to get your dog to a place where they can see other dogs on walks and not have emotional outbursts.
Having a leash reactive dog is stressful for the human, and the dog. People often experience a sense of dread and tension on walks anticipating the moments where you and your dog may come across another dog. When your dog explodes, you may feel embarrassed, ashamed or judged by your dog’s behavior. You may also feel alone in your struggles.
The focus is on creating a dog who can see other dogs on walks and not overly-react. The goal isn’t to teach your dog to make friends with other dogs.
The small class size ensures that you and your dog’s specific challenges are addressed. We tailor the exercises to best address your dog’s behavior.
Our first class is a humans-only session. I’ll talk about dog reactivity and why it happens. I’ll explain the structure of this class and what the training sessions are going to look like.
You each have time to talk about the struggles you are having dog’s behavior. This will be a support group of sorts as everyone is here for the same reason.
This class is taught by business owner and professional dog trainer, Julie Sharp, a certified behavior consultant with years of working with reactive dogs, including her own.
